Marj Halperin


Marj Halperin brings more than 30 years experience in strategic communications as a government policy director, non-profit CEO and journalist. Her solid track record reflects high-impact public relations and public affairs, including crisis communications and issues management as well as internal communications strategy, design and execution. Her firm, Marj Halperin Consulting, helps corporate, government and non-profit clients reach key stakeholders with the right message.

Current clients range from the Erikson Institute and Chicago Public Schools to Kraft Foods and Electro-Motive Diesel. She has also completed numerous projects in conjunction with Executive Partners.

Ms. Halperin has created and implemented the full range of communications strategies for Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley, Illinois State Treasurer Pat Quinn, the Chicago Park District, and Chicago Public Schools. She designed and managed the Park District’s first-ever Marketing Department, creating the comprehensive marketing plan which still serves as the basis for communications strategies used today by the organization.

As Campaign Manager for Forrest Claypool’s 2006 bid for Cook County Board President, Ms. Halperin built and managed all aspects of a $2.7 million business. She also served as President and CEO of the League of Chicago Theatres, taking over an organization on the brink of bankruptcy and turning it into a thriving $6.6 million business. She united the fractious local theater community behind common goals and focused messages.
